Written Testimonies...

Wow!  Where do I begin?  I have known Kim Dixon as an Educator in a professional setting and as a friend.  She is by far one of the most passionate, energetic, dedicated individuals I have had the pleasure of knowing for over 13 years.  She's highly motivated and dependable.  I have been at her house countless times while students were on their lap tops working on scholarship essays and online college applications through college board.  Because she has helped students for over 15 years, she is very knowledgeable about what "they" look for in an essay that's used for scholarships and college applications.  She has built working relationships with many people at different universities.  She takes students on college visits in the Fall and Spring.  Every year her students win national and local scholarships.  Yes, she pushes her students.  She believes that if you put in the time and stay focused on the task at hand, it will pay off in the end.  She knows the key factors needed to win scholarships.  College Bound Crew is a success because Kim Dixon  has mastered the art of the scholarship process, financial aid process and college application process.

As a parent,  I would like to thank you Kim Dixon for all the time that you invested in my (our) daughter guiding and preparing her for a Postgraduate education.  You assisted us in so many ways i.e.  From helping fill out college applications, financial aid forms, to editing all Nneka’s essays.  You seemed to give her essays life.  You  were always double-checking everything.  You were the one up late night hours with our children  assisting them and making sure they met every deadline.   I know that my daughter would not be where she is today if you had not offered your wisdom and guidance.   Thank you for the amazing phenomenal things that you've done with my (our) daughter.  We are definitely blessed to have you in our lives.  I'm looking forward to working with you again and have you guide Amarachi through the college/scholarship process the upcoming Fall 2016-2017 school year.  You are truly a blessing to my family.  We love you.  God Bless you Kim.

                                                               Thank you,

Words can't explain what Ms. Dixon means to me.   She was a mother figure when I did not have a mother.   She mentored and helped me get through my high school years.   I worked countless hours daily to take care of my younger siblings and pay bills so that we could have running water and lights.   I was so close to dropping out.   Ms. Dixon talked to me about my situation and she found assistance for me through community programs set up to assist people in my situation.   She pushed me and didn't allow me to give up on myself or life. I decided to go straight to the Army.   I needed to find new ground to stand on and rejuvenate myself.   After being in the Army for 4 years, Ms. Dixon helped me to apply to an online college.   She has never let me down.   If it wasn't for her, God only knows where I would be today.   Because of her, I can say that I am a successful, strong black woman with a great career and more importantly, for the first time in my life I'm happy.   There is nothing I can do to repay her for all she has done for me.   She is an amazing person and she truly cares about her students.   I will never forget her.  I can't wait to get my degree so that I can call and tell her about my latest accomplishment.

My name is Miyoka Brown.  Honestly, Ms. Dixon became a life line for me when I entered her classroom as a ninth grader.  She is the first person to really see my pain though I thought I was doing a good job of hiding it. I was born in jail.  My father committed suicide in front of me when I was in 6th grade.  I felt hopeless, useless and I honestly thought that no one cared.  When I met Ms. Dixon, things finally took a turn in the right direction. Ms. Dixon was so positive and motivating.  She had this energy that seemed to rub off on me and everyone else around her.  She told me that all I had to do was believe in myself.  She said I had to deal with the hand I was dealt.  I made a decision to change my thought process and change the path I was on.  Because I finally found someone that cared about me and believed in me, I felt compelled to show Ms. Dixon that I could do it.  I messed up my grades during my 9th and 10th grade years.  As a result, I had to work extra hard to pull my grades up. During my senior year, I applied for 3 scholarships.   One national and 2 local scholarships.  With a 2.5 GPA, I was able to win the Dell Scholarship which was $20,000, a laptop, printer and a book voucher for each semester.  I also won the 100 Black Women Scholarship for $1000 and the Masonic Temple Scholarship for $1500.  I was on cloud nine. I could not believe that I was so fortunate. I know I could not have done it without Ms. Dixon's help. She pushed me daily to complete my essays so that she could proof and edit them and I would meet the deadlines.  Sometimes I felt so overwhelmed.  Applying to colleges and applying for scholarship is time consuming and multitasking is definitely a skill you will master after all your college apps and scholarships apps are completed.  If it had not been for Ms. Dixon, I would have never attended college.  Thank you Ms. Dixon for changing the course of my life.  Thank you for believing in me.  Because of you, I will be the first in my family to attend college.  Now that your doing this full time as a consultant for College Bound Crew, I know you will be able to help students all over the US.  They are in for a huge surprise!  They may not know it, but it is a blessing to be able to have you to assist them.

I  remember the day I first met Ms. Dixon as my AVID Teacher/Coordinator.   She was like a breath of fresh air on a cool breezy day.   I had a horrible home life and I was determined to change that.  My Mom is a great mother but some of her decisions affected all of us.   I came to school on a mission everyday to make A's in my classes because I knew that was the only ticket I had to a better life.   Ms. Dixon took us on college visits all over the State of Texas and Louisiana.   It was truly an eye opener for me and I realized that attending college was my ticket to end my nightmare and start a new life.   I was Salutatorian of my class. During my senior year, Ms. Dixon pushed me more than ever.   Some days, I just did not want to write an essay but I knew I had to.   Ms. Dixon's work ethic is over the top.   She stayed countless hours after school working with me and others who did not have access to computers at home.   Sometimes we would not leave school until 7 pm.   When I realized that she was NOT getting paid for this, it only made me respect and love her more.   This was not her responsibility but she offered her time, knowledge, assistance and patience because she cared about our future.   I'm happy to say that I am entering my Senior year at the University of Houston.   I am in the honors program at U of H.  They gave me the platinum scholarship for $40,000.  I also won 4 national scholarships.  The Gates Millennium Scholarship, The Terry Scholarship, The Dell Scholarship and the The Horatio Algers Scholarship.  In addition, I won 8 local scholarships that totaled $15,000.   I earned the opportunity to apply for these scholarships because of my dedication to my grades BUT Ms. Dixon was instrumental in helping me apply for the scholarships and colleges.  Many days I was so frustrated and overwhelmed but she would not let me give up.  She would just look and say, "Quen, when you get the results, it will all be worth it.   You have to keep pushing.   It will be greater later."  She was right.   I am thankful to God for placing her in my life.   I know I could not have accomplished this without her.   Yes, I would have attended college but winning all the Scholarships would not have occurred without her help.

Kim Dixon has been a colleague of mine for 16 years.  We both worked at the Central High School for 10 years.  Kim does not know how to half do anything.  It's just not possible.  For as long as I have known her, she has gone above and beyond for her students.  Her professionalism and interpersonal skills are impeccable.  She is always pleasant and all of her students respect her.  She has always had excellent classroom management.  Kim started assisting students with scholarships because she said it was too much money out there for them not to apply.  I have watched her work countless hours by staying late at school just to help students that did not have access to computers at home.  She goes well above the call of duty to get the job done for students.  As a result, students started winning national scholarships every year.  Each year seems to get better and better as the students win more scholarships.  She helps students from other schools, cities and services each in a variety of ways.  She has assisted students from all nationalities.  In closing, I highly recommend Kim Dixon to be a College/Scholarship Consultant for College Bound Crew without reservation.  You will not regret working with her.  The positive energy and knowledge she brings to each workshop will help your students win national and local scholarships.

I am far from the perfect student.  As a matter of fact, I hated school. To me it was a waste of time.  At least, I felt that way until I met Ms. Dixon.  Some how she knew I was a troubled kid.  I didn't get into trouble in class but I rarely did my school work.  I was too worried about the lights being off and having no running water in my house for months.  My mother would come up missing on a regular basis.  As a result, I had to take care of myself from a very young age.  I just thought that was my reality until I met Ms. Dixon.  She was kind, understanding and honest.  When I told her about my home life, she literally cried with me.  I felt hopeless. Suddenly, she asked me for my address and made 3 phone calls.  Somehow from those calls, the lights were turned on and I had hot and cold running water.  She told me to bring all my dirty clothes to school in a black garbage bag.  I did not have much, but I did what I was told.  To my surprise, Ms. Dixon not only washed my clothes but she also had 3 new pairs of jeans, 5 shirts, underwear, a nice pair of tennis shoes and all the personal necessities a person needs.  No, I did not attend college but with the help of Ms. Dixon, I graduated from high school.  I am now 34 years of age.  I am a Sergeant in the Army with a beautiful wife and 3 kids.  I honestly feel that she saved my life.  Because of my horrible home life, it was only a matter of time until I turned to the streets and ended up doing all the wrong things.  Thank you Ms. Dixon for being that ray of Sunshine in what seemed to be a permanent cloud over my life.  Your simple act of kindness gave me hope.  I can never thank you enough.

Ms. Dixon was a awesome Teacher when I attended Ozen High school.  She motivated me to become a leader and strive to be nothing but the best.  My senior year of high school, Ms. Dixon helped me fill out scholarships and several applications to many univerisities around Texas.  I was accepted to several universities and I also received many scholarships for academics.   I decided to attend UTSA.   I did not score high enough on my SAT so I had to write a letter requesting to be placed on probation for the first year.   Ms. Dixon helped me compose my letter and she also wrote a letter of recommendation on my behalf.   If it wasn't for Ms. Dixon, I would not have known that was even possible and I would have never received my acceptance letter to UTSA.   I graduated from UTSA with a Bachelors in Political Science and Sociology.   She has been a great inspiration to me and the rest of  the Southeast Texas Community!

Ms. Dixon has a gift of writing and she has definitely perfected it when it comes
to helping students apply for scholarships and the college application
process.  She is very passionate in anything she does and always gives 100%.
Applying to colleges was super stressful, but Ms.Dixon was a God send.
She has such a calming aura that she takes away the feelings of being overwhelmed and stressed because you are applying to colleges and applying for scholarships at the same time.  She say, "do each in the order of the deadline" and make sure you stay on top of things by doing what you need to do.  Procrastination is not an option.  Staying focused on the task at hand is your only option.  More importantly, somehow, she actually makes you believe in your capabilities and reach for the stars.  My self esteem was extremely low and she taught me how to love myself and be happy in the skin I'm in.  Without her help, I would not currently be attending Texas A&M University on a full ride scholarship.  I will be the first in my family to attain a college degree.  Thanks to Ms. Dixon's support, I am the proud recipient of the following:

Texas A&M Century Scholarship-$20,000,
Texas A&M Regents Scholarship-$20,000
Michael and Susan Dell Scholarship-$20,000
Jimmy Rane Foundation Scholarship-$20,000
Keys to Aggieland Scholarship-$2,000
Rotary Club of Beaumont Scholarship-$8,000
Horatio Alger Texas Scholarship-$6,000
Other Local Beaumont Scholarships totaling-$4,000

With all the stress and pressure I have been under due to a terrible home environment, I know I could not have accomplished all this without her assistance.  I probably would not have attended college.  Thanks to her, I'm accomplishing things I never thought I could.  If YOU have a chance to work with Ms. Dixon, Go  for it.  She will help you every step of the way.  Success is guaranteed with Ms. Dixon!

Kim was very instrumental in the college application/scholarship process of my son’s college career.  Only in rare cases do I recommend a person for anything.  Speaking on behalf of Kim is one of those rare cases.  My husband and I are both Educators.  She is an experienced, skilled writer who communicates with the students with enthusiasm, creativity and a constant  willingness to help.  This is a summary of the skills Kim displayed in her sessions with my son.  She had the ability to open and close a session and put my son at ease; by helping him perfect his time management skills.  She stressed that beating the deadline was a must.  She informed my son  of his rights and limits of confidentiality, establish warm positive regard/attentiveness for my son during the session.  As his AVID teacher,  Kim counseled my son whom is a little shy and was able to bring him out of his shell.  She worked countless hours with him on a variety of essays, applications and his activity profile.  Her hard work and dedication are impeccable.  She is definitely a perfectionist.  When she edited Malik's essays, she literally gave them life.  Kim demonstrated the ability to relate her classroom/textbook knowledge to a comprehensive strategy for helping my son.  Kim has this amazing positive energy that Oozes from within.  Kim was very supportive of the students she assist and I watched Malik and many of his classmates win National Scholarships because she clearly knows what they are looking for as far as essay writing, community service and leadership skills.  She had the ability to ask open ended questions and engage my son throughout the session.  Kim also demonstrated great rapport, flexibility, and immediacy with my son.  She helped my son establish goals and consistently had him to reach them while encouraging him to strive for the best.  She demonstrates integrity, comfort with diversity, and, maintained the highest ethical standards.  Kim will be an awesome consultant for her business College Bound Crew because she has done this for years without being paid for her services. She volunteered her services because she saw the need for it at schools in our school district and others.  I recommend her to assist students any where without reservation.  I truly appreciate her helping my son who now is going into his senior year and isbon a full ride at Prairie View A&M University.  We could not have accomplished this without her assistance.
